Eternal Love
Until he had arrived in Canton 1775, James had always told Melanie he loved her.
She had once asked him if he would love her in another 200 years?
She had also asked him in their Manhattan apartment in 2020;
“Would you marry me 230 years ago James?”
And he had quipped;
“I would marry you before Eve gave Adam the apple my love!”
Then they had married before the French Court of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette on that spring morning of June 7th 1789.
Now in 1775 meditating with the full enlightenment of the ancients Bohai had shown him, he understood his true feelings of eternal love for her for the first time.
She stood in the doorway of the siheyuan dressed traditionally. Her hair gently resting on her shoulders in the mild breeze of the morning.
He gazed at her with a new understanding of his love and for the first time, knew how to express it.
For she was; as the drop of spring rain on the buds of a flower.
She was the warmth of winter sun.
She was natures clean breath of a fresh breeze in the still of a summer’s night.
She was his eternal love; from all the days long ago, to all the days still to come.
He now understood; eternal love.
