Setting out to Edinburgh Castle

Huddled down under the straw and tartan cloth in the back of the rickety cart, Melanie shivering, cuddled up to James. The Queen still distraught, whimpered incoherently.

“These trips into history have always been short. I wish this one was over!” Melanie whispered. “I want to be home in my nice warm pillow topped bed.”

“I’m not sure what the boss will say when I finally get to work. I think I’d need to take a franchise agreement on Scottish whiskey back with me to keep him happy! But then again, if I know my products, they didn’t start making Scotch until 1494.

So, the chance of getting a dram to warm us up tonight is pretty slim.”

“You’re a cheerful soul James.” chastised Melanie.

“Teremos que atopar refuxio antes de que chegue o amencer. A raíña non debe ser atopada.” offered the old man.

{“We will need to find shelter before the dawn comes. The Queen must not be found.”} offered the old man.

“Só hai que viaxar de noite se queremos evitar aos seguidores de Walter Stewart."

{“We must only travel by night if we are to avoid supporters of Walter Stewart.”}

Melanie drifted off to sleep. But this time she only wished her dreams to take her to the safety of their apartment in New York in 2019.

She woke as the cart stopped behind the stone wall of a disused sheep herder’s cottage by the side of a loch. The dawn mist rising from the blackish waters helping to hide their shelter.
