A blast from the past.

From the coffee table, Melanie’s laptop alerted her to the arrival of an email. Opening Outlook, she squealed as she discovered who it was from.

It read….

Mademoiselle Melanie

Please pardon the intrusion.

This is Christian Bourbon.

When we met at the auction in Geneva in November, I had a recollection that the pendant you were wearing had been seen by me somewhere before. The image has been with me since that day.

Going through some of Marie-Thérèse personal possessions in our families archives, I have come across several more letters that have been addressed to you. They date from just after she arrived here in Vienna in January 1796 upon her release from solitary confinement in the tower.

If you forward to me your address, I will dispatch them to you without delay.

My sincerest best regards.

Christian Bourbon.
