An Artist’s legacy
Bohai was in his studio when he heard the footsteps on the gravel outside.
Peering through the window at the strangely dressed young woman he went out to greet her.
{“Good morning young lady. We have few visitors to our siheyuan are you misplaced in your journey?”}
Melanie smiled at the old man and bowed her head in respect.
{“No good and honourable sir. I have travelled a long way to bring you news.”}
Bohai was intrigued.
{“From where did you travel?”}
{“I know your wisdom of life will permit you understanding so I will tell you Bohai.”}
Bohai said in a puzzled tone.
{“You know my name!” Bohai said in a puzzled tone. “May I know of yours?”}
{“Of course. My name is Melanie Osborne and I come from a land far away and from a time not yet arrived for you. I come from your future; from the year 2020.”
“I come to answer a question that you have asked of the universe”}
{“What question have I asked young Melanie?”}
{“Will the legacy of my art live with value into the future?”}
With that Melanie handed her Queen Charlotte pendant to him.
Extending his hand, he accepted the pendant and in amazement exclaimed.
{“This is my art, how did you come by it in the future?”}
{“It has had a long and historic journey Bohai, I will tell you of its many travels.”}
{“Please come inside Melanie, I will ask my daughter Chunhau to join us and to play for you.”}
“這樣就太好了” grinned Melanie.
{“That would be wonderful” grinned Melanie. “I also know of Chunhau’s art and she also has a lasting legacy into the future.”}
Drinking tea, they sat together listening to Chunhau play.
Tears of joy filled Melanie’s eyes.
