Gathering in the Glen

As the Jacobite highlanders gathered before dawn, it was the morning of 21st August 1689 and would be a battle to the death and the last day of struggle for many. The battle of Dunkeld.

Fearful of the hoards amassing before them from the government forces of William Cleland the highlanders on the high ground were resolute.

James felt no fear.

His journey to be joined with Clan Robertson was for him preordained.

This was his moment; his portal to the past given by the pendant he wore. His unbreakable link to the Scottish heritage of the Royal Family of Scotland.

“Virtutis Gloria Merces” James muttered under his breath.

{“Glory is the reward of valor”}

If this battle were to be lost it would stand in history as a tribute to their lives.

A fight; for Scotland the brave.

The lone piper called them to arms.
