High hopes – lost dreams
A lost dream from a future of a past that was rich, or was it squandered to never return?
Divided by a division bell of lost dreams
Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young
In a world of magnets and miracles
Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary
The ringing of the division bell had begun { David Gilmour - Pink Floyd}
Today we are in today and can look back to the days when things were better.
There was a ragged band that followed in our footsteps
Running before times took our dreams away
Leaving the myriad small creatures trying to tie us to the ground
To a life consumed by slow decay { David Gilmour - Pink Floyd}
Tomorrow when we reach back for the dreams of yesterday the dreams of today or to our dreams of tomorrow; will they be realised or lost; to be just the echo of our lost lives when the division bell chimed?
Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us
To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side
Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again
Dragged by the force of some inner tide { David Gilmour - Pink Floyd}
Encumbered forever by desire and ambition
There's a hunger still unsatisfied
Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon
Though down this road we've been so many times
The grass was greener
The light was brighter
The taste was sweeter
The nights of wonder
With friends surrounded
The dawn mist glowing
The water flowing
The endless river { David Gilmour - Pink Floyd}
Forever realised, or lost but the single note of hope that we will hear, as the division bell sounds for us all.
Will we wait to hear the final note of the division bell?
