An exquisite and unique pendant set by master jewelers in 18k solid gold and encrusted with 12 brilliant round cut diamonds. This will draw envious eyes and delight whenever and wherever worn. The versatility of the handmade setting design, allows the centerpiece of this historic jewel to be worn and displayed both sides.
The central hand carved mother of pearl depicts on one display side, an extremely detailed deep carved scene of three people from a time long ago in an intricately carved background garden and pagoda setting – simply breathtaking. The outer border is perfect with astounding detail. Words simply are insufficient to describe the detail achieved by its artist.
The other side of this incredible piece of history, is equally stunning in its intricacy and aesthetic perfection. It displays the crest-coat of arms of Lt General Sir John Doveton of the Madras Light Cavalry who commissioned the piece circa 1830. We can see the eagle supporting a staff with a pennant; arms: azure on a chevron between two doves and an anchor, three roses {with impaled arms}; The back hatching surrounding the crest is also extremely intricate as is the Doveton’s motto of Patience and Perseverance. The outer edge of the central crest is equally breathtaking displaying birds.

First Madras Light Cavalry
Sir John Doveton entered the Madras light cavalry as a cornet in 1785 serving in all three campaigns of Lord Cornwallis against Tipu Sultan. As a lieutenant he also served in the campaign of Lieutenant-General George Harris during the fourth Anglo-Mysore War of 1799. In 1813 he was promoted to Colonel and his noted service during the third Anglo-Maratha War of 1817-18 resulted in him being awarded CB on October 14 1818 and KCB on November 26 1819.
In April 1819 Doveton commanded the forces which besieged and captured Asirgarh.
He was made a GCB and promoted to Lieutenant-General.
